Kadin ESDM, in collaboration with Katadata, launched the Energy & Mineral Insight Monthly Bulletin to deliver clear, data-driven insights on the energy and mineral sectors. The launch was accompanied by a discussion forum, which in this edition focused on electric vehicle (EV) investment in Indonesia.

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), through its Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Division, officially launched the inaugural edition of the Energy & Mineral Insight Monthly Bulletin in collaboration with Katadata. Held on June 2, 2025, at The Maple Brasserie in Jakarta, the event brought together Kadin members, industry associations, and other key stakeholders from the energy and mineral sectors.

Designed as a strategic intelligence platform, the Monthly Bulletin supports data-driven decision-making by offering curated content on trending topics, market developments, deal and project watch, policy updates, and project showcases. It aims to meet the growing demand for clear and actionable insights among businesses and policymakers.

To deepen discussion, each bulletin release is accompanied by a thematic forum that brings together Kadin members, industry leaders, government representatives, and academics. The first edition focuses on electric vehicle (EV) investment, an increasingly critical area within Indonesia’s energy transition strategy.

The launch forum featured Moeldoko (Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association/Periklindo), Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah (Automotive Expert and Independent Commissioner of Astra Otoparts), and Luther T. Panjaitan (Head of Public and Government Relations, BYD Indonesia). The session was moderated by Fakhridho Susilo (Executive Director of Katadata Insight Center).

Speakers highlighted Indonesia’s favorable position in attracting EV and nickel investments, particularly as China grapples with internal EV market saturation and rising U.S. tariffs. They emphasized three key enablers for foreign investment: political stability, efficient logistics, and clear regulations. Panelists also discussed the distinct roles of NMC and LFP batteries in the EV market and underscored that beyond raw material supply, government support and market potential are vital to long-term investment.

Also in attendance were Anindya Bakrie (Chairman of Kadin Indonesia), Bobby Gafur Umar (Kadin Vice Chair Coordinator for Investment, Downstreaming, Energy, and Environment), Aryo Djojohadikusumo (Kadin Vice Chair for ESDM), and Metta Dharmasaputra (CEO of Katadata).

Looking ahead, Kadin will continue hosting regular discussion forums alongside each bulletin release to foster cross-sector dialogue and promote informed engagement in the ESDM sector.
